Hello, my name is Christopher White and I am running in the 2011 Federal Election as an Independent for Edmonton-Strathcona.
I'm committing myself to pushing for modest increases in key areas of Education, Health and Employment that will paid for by new revenue. I'm also pushing for better action on the Environment and Democratic Reform. The political parties are only addressing these issues in superficial ways, sacrificing long-term planning on the alter of short-term vote winning. I don't think there needs to be a trade off.
I want to engage with Edmontonians in a way that party politics won't allow. I'm not told what to say by any Party HQ, I don't need any policy recommendations vetted by an Executive to make sure it won't hurt my prospects elsewhere in the country. I have a once-in-a-four years opportunity (though lately, every two) to put forward some ideas and see what other people think.
